Skretting Becomes First in Australia to Earn ASC Feed Certification

Australia’s aquafeed industry gets its first ASC stamp of approval, reducing risk and raising transparency.

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is proud to announce a significant milestone for Australia’s aquaculture industry: Skretting has become the first aquafeed producer in the country to earn certification under the ASC Feed Standard.

Skretting has achieved certification for its Cambridge and Westbury feed mill facilities in Tasmania, following a comprehensive, independent audit against the ASC Feed Standard conducted by Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), bio.inspecta.

Skretting’s certified facilities supply aquafeed for species such as Atlantic Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Barramundi, Yellowtail Kingfish, and Black Tiger Prawn, key contributors to Australia’s seafood economy.

This landmark achievement reinforces Skretting’s position as a global leader in responsible feed production and sets a new benchmark for sustainability, transparency, and ethical practices in aquaculture.

Responsibly Sourced Seafood – Why Feed Matters

The ASC Feed Standard offers assurance to retailers and buyers that aquafeed used in ASC certified seafood production meets the highest international standards for environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The ASC Feed Standard reduces operational risk by requiring responsible sourcing of raw materials, not only marine ingredients, but also major agricultural crops such as soy, wheat, corn, and canola. The standard addresses social impacts too, safeguarding labour rights, worker safety, and community wellbeing across the feed supply chain.
